Apple has acquired a New Zealand based wireless charging company called PowerbyProxi. The company was founded in 2007 by Fady Mishriki and makes small Qi wireless charging standard products.
The sum of the deal has not been disclosed but surprisingly Apple has confirmed the acquisition to Stuff.co.nz . Apple usually don’t confirm any acquisition directly but this time Dan Riccio, Apple’s senior vice president of hardware engineering has confirmed the deal.
He also adds “team will be a great addition as Apple works to create a wireless future”. We have already seen Apple going for wireless charging in the new iPhones which works with Qi standard charging.
It will be interesting too see how Apple utilizes the wireless charging company as wireless is the future and we already know that Apple is very keen to get ahead of it’s competition. PowerbyProxi’s commercial projects will be closed or not is still unknown. Stay tuned to Sid Tech for more tech updates.
