Mobile World Congress is known for big smartphone makers, launching their next flagship smartphone. We already know that Samsung and Sony will launch their next flagship smartphone at MWC 2018. HTC has decided to not launch their next flagship called HTC U12 in this years MWC.
According to a report by AndroidHeadlines, HTC will not announce its new flagship at MWC 2018. The report also mentions that HTC will have a separate launch event after MWC, most probably in late March or early April. Earlier reports claimed the launch to be at MWC but now it looks like HTC don’t want to get overshadows by the Galaxy S9 hype.
There is not much known about the HTC U12 but here are some expected specs. The smartphone will be powered by the latest Snapdragon 845 processor coupled with 6GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB of internal storage expandable via MicroSD. HTC will go for an 18:9 display with thinner bezels and maybe a higher resolution 4K display.
HTC will not go for the under-display fingerprint scanner and the U12 will come with a rear placed fingerprint scanner. We have seen HTC use Face unlock with HTC U11 EYEs, so it should be here too. HTC will also use its unique squeeze functionality called the HTC Edge Sense.
The smartphone might sport a quad camera setup with dual camera setup at both the rear and front. Let’s hope HTC U12 will help HTC to get back into smartphone leadership and bring some good products to market. Stay tuned to Sid Tech for all the coverage from Mobile World Congress.
