Xiaomi is all set to launch a number of products next month at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. While everyone is waiting for the Snapdragon 845 running Mi 7 flagship smartphone, Xiaomi will also launch the successor to its popular Mi 5X smartphone called the Mi 6X. The smartphone will be called Mi A2 Globally.
Along with the Xiaomi will also be launching the next generation of its Surge S1 processor called Surge S2. This new processor will power the Mi 6X/MA2 smartphone. According to a report by MyDriver, The Surge S2 is based on TSMC’s 16nm manufacturing processor.
It will come with 8 cores in which 4 cores of Cortex-A73 will be clocked at 2.2GHz and four lower powered 1.8Ghz Cortex A53. The processor will be coupled with Mali G71 MP8 GPU and will have LPDDR4 RAM. The processor will support UFS 2.1 Storage and will power many Xiaomi smartphones.
Now coming to Mi 6X, According to a leaked image of the back cover of the Mi 6X, the smartphone will come with a vertical dual camera setup just like we have seen with the iPhone X. It will have a rear placed fingerprint scanner. Coming to the front it will have an 18:9 aspect ratio full-screen display.
We can expect Xiaomi to launch Mi 6X in India as Mi A2 sometime in June 2018. The global variant should run on stock Android with Android One programme just like on its predecessor. It will be interesting to see if Xiaomi will launch the Global variant with its Surge S2 chip or will go with a Snapdragon counterpart. Stay tuned to Sid Tech for more tech updates.
