HMD Global owned Nokia has finally launched it’s Nokia 8 Sirocco smartphone at an event held Barcelona. The smartphone is a re-design of Nokia’s 2017 flagship Nokia 8. Nokia 8 Sirocco is priced at EUR 749 around ₹60,000, which is the global average retail price. The smartphone will be available in a Black color variant in early April.
The smartphone is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 835 processor coupled with 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM. It comes with 128GB of internal storage and there is no option for the expandable storage. The Nokia 9 Sirocco sports a 5.5-inch QHD pOLED display with 3D Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection on top.
Just like every other new Nokia smartphone from Nokia 3 and above, the new Nokia 8 is an Android One smartphone. This means that the smartphone will receive all the major updates directly from Google. It runs on Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box with a stock interface and comes with a rear placed fingerprint scanner.
The smartphone is made out of stainless steel with a curved glass finish. According to HMD Global, it is 2.5 times stronger than the 6,000 series aluminum used in the original Nokia 8. It comes with a dual camera setup at the back with a 12-megapixel wide-angle primary camera with f/1.75 aperture and a 13-megapixel telephoto camera with f/2.6 aperture.
You can get a 2x optical zoom with this telephoto lens. The dual camera setup is by Zeiss optics and comes with dual-tone LED flash. The smartphone sports a 5-megapixel fixed focus sensor with f/2.0 aperture. HMD Global also launched the Nokia 1, Nokia 7 Plus, Nokia 6 2018 and the iconic Nokia 8840 4G at the event.
