Sony is all set to launch its next generation of XZ lineup of smartphones on 26th January at MWC 2018. Sony is the only big company which has not yet adopted the popular 18:9 aspect ratio display for its flagship devices. The company is all set to change this later this month in Barcelona with Sony XZ2 and XZ2 Compact.
According to a report by VentureBeat, Sony Xperia XZ2 will sport a 5.7-inch full-HD 18:9 aspect ratio LCD display and the Xperia XZ2 compact will sport a 5.0-inch full HD 18:9 aspect ratio display. Both the smartphones come with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection on top. Both the smartphones are available in Black, Silver, Green and Pink color variants.
The XZ2 comes with 3D glass to the front and the back with an aluminum frame all around. It comes in glossy finish whereas the XZ2 compact is made up of a non-scratch polycarbonate finish. Both the smartphones will be powered by the latest Snapdragon 845 processor and will run on Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box.
Sony Xperia XZ2 sports the same 19-megapixel rear-facing camera with f/.8 aperture found on the XZ premium. The camera is capable of 4K HDR and slow-motion recording. The camera is different on the XZ2 compact but we don’t have details about that. Sony has also moved the fingerprint scanner to the back, right in the middle.
Sony Xperia XZ2 compact houses a 2870mAh battery and the XZ2 houses a 3180mAh battery. Both the smartphones will use USB type-C for charging and data syncing. The XZ2 also comes with front firing S Force stereo speakers for better audio performance. The devices will be available sometime in March. Stay tuned to Sid Tech for more tech updates.
