Facebook-owned popular instant messaging app, WhatsApp has today released another new feature for its WhatsApp Beta app for Android and Windows Phone. With this new update, you can add a group description on your groups. The feature will soon be roll out to the main app and for iPhone users too.
This new group description feature is available on WhatsApp beta version 2.18.54 on Android and WhatsApp beta version 2.18.28 on Windows phone. Just like other features, Whatsapp has rolled out it to a limited member, so even if you are a beta tester and haven’t got it, you will get it soon.
Coming to the feature, You find this just below the group name in the group info menu. Any group member can change the description of the group. The new group description is limited to 500-characters, which is enough to explain the purpose of the group. It is a great feature for public groups in which you can invite people via a link.
As told earlier any member can edit the group description for now but we think WhatsApp will limit this feature ti group admins in the final update. This is a welcome feature as it will help people understand the purpose of creating a particular group. Have you got this feature?
