Last year, Google launched its mobile payments app called Google Tezz which lets you pay to anyone using the Unifies Payment Interface (UPI). Now to take on its competitors including Paytm and WhatsApp, Google is bringing a new simple chat feature to the app. Interestingly it is launched just after few weeks of WhatsApp announcing UPI payments via its app.
A Google spokesperson confirmed the new feature to Gadgets360 saying “We’ve added a feature to Tez that allows you to send simple messages back and forth to your contacts about the payments you make.” The feature is not available for everyone as of now and will be rolled out slowly.
It will be only available if both the parties are running the latest version of the Google Tezz app. But as we told you before it is being rolled out at a slow pace so it might not be there even if you have the latest version. We were also not able to try the new feature even after having the latest version.
With the new update, there is a dedicated “chat” button along with the “Pay” and “Request” buttons on the app. Simply tap that and chat with your contacts and easily talk to them about the payments. You can also block anyone out of your contacts or disable a particular chat thread.
Last Year, its biggest rival Paytm also launched its “Inbox” feature which lets you chat with your contacts. But on Paytm Inbox you can recall sent messages, share photos, videos and location as well. And we already know how popular WhatsApp is when it comes to instant messaging. One WhatsApp Payments is available to everyone it will give a tough competition to everyone. Stay tuned to Sid Tech for more tech updates.
