Apple has finally launched a new iPad at its education-focused event in a Chicago based high school. This new entry-level iPad is focused on students and teachers but is also available for other consumers. First of talking about US pricing, for schools, iPad 9.7-inch (2018) is priced at $299 and $329 for the normal consumers.
In India is the pricing is similar to the last year’s iPad 9.7-inch. The Apple iPad 2018 32GB is priced at ₹28,000 in India for the WiFi-only variant. The WiFi + Cellular model is priced at ₹38,600. The new iPad also comes with Apple Pencil support which is available at ₹7,600 in India along with smart covers at ₹3,400.
As it was a global launch, the iPad 2018 is available starting today for pre-orders and will start shipping later this week in 25 countries including US, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, China, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, UAE, and UK.
It will be available in India starting April along with other countries and regions. Countries like South Korea will get the new iPad in May 2018. Now coming to the new iPad, it is essentially the same iPad as the last generation but with a faster processor called Apple A10 Fusion.
It comes with a 9.7-inch Retina IPS display and has a touch ID embedded home button. Coming to optics, the iPad 2018 comes with the same 8-megapixel rear camera with f/2.4 aperture and a 1.2-megapixel front-facing camera. The face time camera comes with a f/2.2 aperture.
The other difference includes the support for Apple Pencil, rest all the specifications are same. The iPad 2018 is focused on schools and comes with updated iWork suite of apps. There are also new apps for teachers and students called Schoolwork to keep records, submit homework etc.
Even though you are not a student or teacher iPad 2018 looks good but sadly in India, it is not really an entry-level iPad. If you have an iPad 9.7-inch 2017, you don’t need to upgrade but if you have older gen iPads, iPad 2018 might be a worthy upgrade. Stay tuned to Sid Tech for more tech updates.
