One of the main agenda of Google I/O 2018 was to help people get some time away from their gadgets. After YouTube launching its Take a Break feature, Facebook-owned social network Instagram will show you the amount of time you spend on the platform.
According to a report by TechCrunch, Instagram’ Android app code shows a Usage Insights feature, which will tell you the time spent on the platform. Right now it is not clear if it will show time spent daily, weekly, monthly or you can choose a custom parameter.
This will be beneficial for both the users and Instagram as users can identify how much time they are spending/investing/wasting on the platform. Whereas Instagram can use this metric to further improve the user experience on its app.
We can expect the feature to launch soon by Instagram. The report also talks about few other features found via the code like a new emoji bar. The bar will let you add the most popular emoji with a single tap along with an @ button for tagging people.
It is good to see companies taking steps to help people get over their addiction to gadgets and social media. Do you find this user insight feature useful? Let us know in the comments below and stay tuned to Sid Tech for more tech updates.
