Facebook Subscription Groups For Admins Announced – Charge For Group Access

One of the most popular social media network, Facebook from a long time is focusing on helping creators earn from its platform. Now the company is focusing on group admins by allowing them to charge $4.99 to $29.99 ( ₹340 to ₹2045) monthly for an exclusive membership for the group members.

Facebook is starting this with a small number of groups and will soon roll out the feature for all. Groups like parenting, cooking and home cleaning will be the amongst the first ones to get the new feature. Group members and now sign-up and manage their subscription through the Facebook App for iOS and Android.

“We hear from group admins that they’re looking for ways to help them earn money to deepen engagement with their members and continue to support their communities. Many admins do this today by creating an additional subscribers-only group that sits alongside their existing group, and rely on additional tools to track and collect payments. Subscription groups were created to make it easier for admins to provide these experiences with built-in tools, and to save them time so they can focus on offering members-only content” Facebook announced

Also the free groups will stay the same and there is no threat to them. Admins of these free groups and can have sub-group which is only for the premium members. The admins of the premium group will have to deliver premium content or some type of value for the members to pay them.

As it is just a pilot program right now, Facebook won’t be getting any money from the subscription fees. But as it is available for both iOS and Android, Apple and Google will be taking a set percentage of user subscription fee as per the App store and Play Store policies.
