At Google I/O 2018, Google announced that Google lens will be available on all the Android smartphone via the Google assistant app and via the camera app too on some smartphones. While almost every smartphone now comes with Google Lens with Google Photos and Assistant, some smartphones are getting it via the camera app too.
Sony is one of the OEM supporting the Google Lens on its stock Android app. Sony today announced that Sony Xperia XZ2 and Sony Xperia XZ2 compact smartphones now support Google lens on their stock camera app. There is no need for an OTA update for this to work, just update the Google app on your smartphone to the latest version and your good to go.
As of now, it is only available on Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium other than these two and Sony will be adding more smartphones to the list. Google lens with the help of AI allows you to scan and interact with the world around you. For example, If you open the camera app on your smartphone and point it towards a dress, it will show you all the e-commerce stores it is available on along with the pricing.
Similarly, you can get more information about landmarks, movies via movie posters, identify plants, animals and different objects. You can also add events to your calendar via Google Lens.
