After many leaks and rumors, Instagram has finally launched its YouTube competitor video platform called IGTV. Facebook-owned photos sharing platform, Instagram has positioned its IGTV platform for creators and is offering s long vertical video format to all the creators.
“We’re evolving with the times; these days, people are watching less TV and more digital video.By 2021, mobile video will account for 78% of total mobile data traffic. And we’ve learned that younger audiences are spending more time with amateur content creators and less time with professionals. ” Instagram announced.
The new IGTV is focused on mobile consumers and offers a vertical video format only. One of the best thing about the new platform is that you can see content from creators you were already following on Instagram. Anyone can upload a video to Instagram TV and become a creator.
Another much needed feature is the ability to upload videos via the web. Many creators edit their video through Mac or PC and giving them ability to upload from there is appreciated. There is a separate app for IGTV on both Android and iOS.
Instagram has not yet announced any sort of monetization option for the creators but we expect Instagram to announce something soon. YouTube is the no 1 place for web video producers around the world because of two things, audience and monetization.
Audience is not an issue with Instagram and if they can get the earnings right, this could be a potential threat to Google’s video platform. Try the app and let us know what do you think about the new app. Stay tuned to Sid Tech for latest tech news, deals, reviews and more.
