Earlier this week, Sony announced that it is stopping the development of its current Xperia Home Launcher. The launcher was moved into maintenance mode and its beta community would also close soon. While Sony did not revealed the reason behind the move then, Now they have explained it.
Erika Prymus, the person who posted about the discontinuation of the Xperia Home launcher gave an explanation about the same. He posted on the Google Plus community page, Sony is currently working on a completely new launcher for its Xperia range of smartphone.
“The reason for discontinuing new feature development in the current Xperia Home Application is that we are developing a new Home Application” Prymus announced. With many smartphone makers are moving to a near stock android experience on their smartphones we can expect same from Sony.
While we expected Sony to move to stock Android on its upcoming smartphones but now we know that the company will bring a new launcher. We hope they will try to keep it as light as possible and bring some really unique features to the Home launcher.
As it is in the development stage right now we don’t know if the launcher will make to old Xperia smartphones or not. It will definitely launch with new Xperia smartphones, but what about he recently launch premium smartphones by Sony. Also for all the beta testers, while the old community has closed, we can expect Sony to move the new Xperia Home launcher to the beta phase soon.
