Qualcomm has launched three new mid-range mobile platforms at MWC Shanghai 2018. The three new mobile processors include Snapdragon 632, Snapdragon 439 and the Snapdragon 429. There are already more than 1350 Snapdragon 600 series powered devices and over 2,300 Snapdragon 400 series powered devices.
With the three new processors Qualcomm aims at providing better graphics and AI performance along with great battery life. While the Snapdragon 632 is built on 14nm FinFET process, the Snapdragon 439 and 429 are built on 12nm FinFET process.
The introduction of Snapdragon 632, 439 and 429 builds off Qualcomm Technologies’ highest-selling mobile platforms and provides users with increased performance and power efficiency, superior graphics, AI capabilities and enhanced connectivity features,” said Kedar Kondap, vice president, product management, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. “We’re excited to offer these new platforms with enhanced features to our OEMs and consumers.”
The new Snapdragon 632 processor comes with the latest Kryo cores with 4 high performance cores clocked at 1.8Ghz each and 4 power -efficient cores clocked at 1.8Ghz each too. The processor comes coupled with Adreno 506 GPU and is said to deliver 40% more performance than the Snapdragon 626.
The processor can support up to 20 megapixel single camera setup or a 13-megapixel dual camera setup. It can capture videos in 4K and the display limit is Full HD+. It also comes with the X9 LTE Modem to deliver better LTE speeds. All of these would turn into a great mid-range smartphones.
Snapdragon 439 and Snapdragon 429
The Snapdragon 439 is an octa-core processor with 8 Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.95Ghz and the Snapdragon 429 is a quad-core processor with the same 4 Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.95Ghz. The Snapdragon 439 comes coupled with Adreno 505 GPU and Snapdragon 429 with Adreno 504 GPU.
Snapdragon 439 supports up to 21-megapixel single camera setup or a 8-megapixel dual camera setup. The Snapdragon 429 supports up to 16-megapixel single camera setup or a 8-megapixel dual camera setup. The chipset comes with Snapdragon X6 modem for up to 150Mbps download speed.
Qualcomm Says that the commercial devices equipped with Snapdragon 632, 439 and 429 are expected to launch in the second half of 2018.
