Xiaomi Mi A1 Receiving Android 8.1 Oreo With June Security Patch

Xiaomi Mi A1 was the first Xiaomi smartphone without its MIUI ROM and its first Android One smartphone.While the smartphone has faced a lot of criticism due to the latest Android updates even with Android One, but it is still loved by many users around the world.

The smartphone received the Android Oreo update back in January 2018 and now after 6 months it has started getting the Android Oreo 8.1 update. The update also comes with the June security patch and a major bug as reported by the XDA developers.

The update file is of 1.1GB and you now update your smartphone. Go to settings, about, software update and there should be an update available. While there is not much difference between the Android 8.0 and 8.1, it comes with the new launcher, and a few changes to the system UI.

It comes with a major bug that will wipe your SMS history. Many users have reported the problem and folks at XDA developers have confirmed it with their own device. So if you have some important message or are concerned about the same, we would recommend you to back up your SMS first.

There is still no Project treble support and we are now close to the launch of the Xiaomi Mi A2. There have been many leaks and rumors surrounding the smartphone, some even stating that there will be an Android One smartphone but it won’t be the Mi A2.
