Sony has been using its Xperia Home Launcher for all of its smartphones from very long. Now the company has announced that the Xperia Home Launcher new features development has been discounted and they will also close the testers community in few weeks.
Sony announced this via a Google Plus posted saying “A business decision has been taken that our current launcher, Xperia Home should enter maintenance phase.” This basically means that there will be new feature added to the launched though the maintenance will still continue as long as it is needed.
Sony also added that the Xperia Home Beta community will also be closed in a couple of weeks. This means either we will see a new launcher by Sony in their upcoming smartphones (unlikely) or Sony will finally move to the stock launcher available with Android.
Many companies have adopted to a stock interface and has received good response from the consumer. While this business decision will mainly be due to the extra cost added to develop new feature for the Xperia Home launcher. When customers are happy with stock launcher, there is no need to increase the cost.
But to keep the loyal Xperia Home fans happy, Sony has released a new update with version number 11.3.A.0.17 which will be available on Google Play soon. You can find these release notes from the update below and Stay tuned to Sid Tech for latest tech news, deals, reviews and more.
