Google Pixel 3 Features That Are Coming To Older Pixel Smartphones

Share

At its 2018 made by Google event, Google launched Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL smartphones. While we already knew almost everything about the hardware of the Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL, it is the software which surprised everyone. While not all of the new software features will be available on the Pixel and Pixel 2, there are some great features which are incoming.

Adjustable Portrait Blur

Google has finally launched the adjust portrait blur feature with the Pixel 3 smartphones which let you adjust the degree of a blur as well as change the focus of that blur on photos taken in the portrait mode. Google has told Android Police that the feature will also come to other Pixel smartphones via an official update.

Night Sight

One of the biggest highlights of the Google Pixel 3 Keynote was the Night Sight feature showcased by Google. This feature will make your nightlife shots amazing. Google even showcased a comparison with the iPhone XS and the results were great.

The feature is scheduled to come the Google Pixel 3 and Google Pixel 3 XL in November 2018 and it will also come to the older generation Pixel smartphones. While Google has not revealed the exact date for it, the night Sight feature will be available on the Google Pixel 2 and Google Pixel 2 XL.

Call Screen

Another feature which received an amazing response after the Keynote is the Google Call Screen. With Google’s Call Screen feature you will not have to take any telemarketer call in future. It allows Google Assitant to talk to telemarketers on your behalf and you can see the ongoing conversation via transcripts and decide your response.

Call Screen will first work in the US only and will come to the entire Pixel smartphone family this November. We hope Google will bring this feature to India too as it is very much needed.

Playground

Google is investing a lot both on AI and AR, Playground is the Google’s re-branded AR Stickers App. With Google Playground you can add different AR models/ figures into your viewfinder and take a picture or video with them. Google says that these AR models will also interact with each other.

The feature is first coming to the Google Pixel 3 and Google Pixel 3 XL. Google will also bring Playground to the original Pixel and the Pixel 2 smartphone soon.

Gmail Smart Compose

The Gmail smart compose feature was launched earlier this year for Gmail for the web. The feature gives you suggestions based on subject and other matter and you can press tab to complete the suggestions. We have personally used the feature and found it really useful.

While Google at their Pixel 3 event announced that the Gmail Smart Compose is coming first to Pixel, we can safely assume it means all the Pixel series smartphones. Eventually, the feature will also come to other Android smartphones via Gmail.

Duplex

Google Duplex created a lot of heat after the Google I/O developer conference 2018. While some were concerned about its privacy and security aspect, Google assured that they will only launch the Duplex after proper testing and it will come with proper disclosure. Now Google is finally launching Duplex with the Pixel 3.

All the Pixel smartphones will get the Duplex feature next month (November). The feature will be rolled out on a city-by-city basis in the US. While it is first coming to Pixel smartphone only, we can soon expect Google to bring to the other smartphones too.

There are many new camera features launched by Google with the Pixel 3. While we surely know that all the above-mentioned features are coming to the older Pixel smartphones, the list might change in the future and we may see these features making their way to the Pixel and Pixel 2 smartphones.
