Google Pixel Slate Launched – Price, Specifications, Features

Google has finally launched its first ChromeOS running tablet called the Google Pixel Slate at it’s 2018 made by Google event. Google also launched its much-leaked Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL smartphones along with Google Home Hub. This is the first tablet from Google in three years and with the new ChromeOS update it can also run Android Apps.

Google Pixel Slate Pricing and Availability

The Google Pixel Slate starts at $599 around 44,400 for the base variant with Intel Celeron processor, 4GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage. The price of the Pixel Slate goes all the way up to $1,599 around Rs. 1,18,000 for the highest end variant with Intel Core i7 processor, 16GB RAM and 256GB of internal storage. Google is also offering free YouTube TV subscription for 3 months with the purchase of the Pixel Slate.

The convertible tablet is available in Midnight Blue colour variant and will be available later this year in the US, UK, and Canada via Google Stores, and other partners. Google has also launched Pixel Slate Keyboard which you will have to buy separately for $199 around Rs. 14,700. Google Pixelbook Pen priced at $99 around Rs. 7,300 is also compatible with the Pixel Slate.

Google Pixel Slate Specifications and Features

Google Pixel Slate is powered by the Intel Celeron, Intel Core m3, Intel Core i5 and Intel Core i7 processors coupled with 4GB RAM/32GB internal storage, 8GB RAM/64GB of internal storage, 8GB RAM/128GB of internal storage and lastly 16GB RAM and 256GB of internal storage. It sports a 12.3-inch (2,000 X 3,000 Pixels) LTPS LCD touchscreen display with 293ppi pixel density.

Just like the Pixel phones, Pixel Slate comes with dual-front firing speakers and rounded corners. Both the front and rear-facing cameras on the Pixel slate are of 8-megapixel with a f/1.8 aperture on the rear lens and f/1.9 aperture on the front one. The front facing camera is a wide-angle lens and also comes with the popular portrait mode.

The Google tablet houses a 48Whr battery which company claims can easily last up to 10 hours on a single charge. The Pixel Slate comes with 2 USB-C ports, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.2 and magnetic pins for connecting the Pixel Slate Keyboard. The Google Pixel Slate runs on Chrome OS, which has been optimized for a better touch experience but also comes with a full desktop experience.

Chrome will run on its full desktop version and as soon as you connect the Pixel Slate Keyboard it would turn into a full desktop mode. Google is working with developers like Adobe to optimize their apps better for the Chrome OS. Google Assistant is also present in the Pixel Slate as it is fully integrated with the Chrome OS.
