Apple is all set to host an event in October 2018 to update its iPad lineup along with some Mac refreshes. While Apple has not officially announced anything about an October event, iPad Pro 2018 has been leaked a lot. There have been references to iPad 2018 fall device in the iOS 12.1 beta.

According to the latest leaks shared by 9to5Mac, there will be a total of 4 new iPad Pro models, two WiFi models in both sizes and two LTE models in both the sizes. The displays will be bigger this year as the new iPad Pro 2 will come with an edge to edge display with no home button. There will be no notch as on the iPhone X and iPhone XS.

Even though there will be no notch, Apple has included its popular Face ID facial recognition technology on the 2018 iPads. According to the report, the Face ID will also work in landscape mode. The setup for Face ID will be similar to the setup on iPhone X. You will register your face in portrait orientation only but Face ID will work in landscape orientation too.

One of the biggest change with the new iPad pros will be the introduction of USB-C port. The Type-C port will not only charge your iPad Pro 2 but will also be able to output 4K HDR video to external displays. According to the report, there will be a new panel in the settings app with controls for this feature like changing brightness, HDR and more.

The Apple Pencil will also get an update. The new Apple Pencil 2 will connect to the iPad Pro like AirPods. This means Apple Pencil 2 will connect to the iPad Pro 2 by proximity. You can also switch between devices without connecting the Apple pencil to the charging port. As the new iPad Pro will have a Type-C port, the new Apple Pencil will also charge via a USB-C connection. Stay tuned to Sid Tech for latest tech news, deals, reviews and more.
