In 2017 with the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S8, Samsung launched its AI virtual assistant called Bixby. Samsung added an additional physical button to the smartphone just for Bixby and did’t let users remap the button for anything else on both the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S9.
Now with the launch of the new Galaxy S10 smartphone, Samsung provides an option to remap the Bixby button to something else. Samsung is also pushing out an update to Samsung Galaxy S8 and Samsung Galaxy S9 users via which they can remap the Bixby button.
As reported by Android Police first, once you get the update, you will have two options in the Bixby settings. You can assign Bixby to either a single or double press of the button. If you assign Bixby to double press of the button, you can assign single press to another app or feature.
This new Bixby button remapping feature is part of the Android 9 Pie update for the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S9. So just like any other major OTA update, it might take some time to reach your smartphone.
